The single most important rule of digging: know what’s underground first. Striking a buried cable or gas main is dangerous and expensive — and entirely avoidable.
Before you break ground
- Get hold of utility plans for the site where you can.
- Sweep the whole dig area with a CAT (cable avoidance tool) and Genny in power, radio and generator modes.
- Mark located services clearly on the surface.
- Hand-dig trial holes to confirm depth and position near anything detected.
- Keep machine digging well clear of marked services — dig by hand close to them.
We hire CAT scanners and Genny kits alongside our mini diggers — sort both in one go. Delivered and collected across Norfolk & Suffolk. Request a quote and dig with confidence.
