How to Level a Site with a Mini Digger

Levelling a site — for a base, lawn, shed or building — is far quicker with a mini digger than a rake and shovel. Here’s how to get a true, even finish.

Getting it level

  1. Set a datum and mark your finished level with pegs and a laser or line level.
  2. Strip and stockpile the topsoil before you start cutting and filling.
  3. Cut down the high spots and move material to the low spots, working methodically.
  4. Use the back of the bucket to drag and smooth as you go.
  5. Compact filled areas in layers so they don’t settle later.

A grading or ditching bucket gives the smoothest finish — ask us about attachments when you book. Hire a mini digger across Norfolk & Suffolk, delivered and collected. Get a quote.
